Education and Experience
Graduating from Marysville-Pilchuck High School in 1989, I moved to the beautiful town of Bellingham, WA and enrolled
in Western Washington University where I earned a degree in English. While I attended graduate classes at Western's satellite
program in Seattle, I worked as an educational assistant with the special education program at MPHS . I received my teaching
certificate and masters in education in 1999 and began teaching language arts at MPHS. It is important to me to continue to
learn and grow professionally, so I decided to participate in the National Board Certification process and received my certification
in 2006. I begin a new chapter this year at Granite Falls High School and I am very excited to join this great community!
Interests and Family
I love books and I am passionate about reading -- you'll almost always find me with a book nearby and my family groans
every time we pass a book store that I just want to "pop into for a minute." If I'm not reading I'm spending
time with my beautiful daughters, Mikaela and Meghan, and my best friend and husband Dan. My girls atttend Marysville
schools and will be in second and seventh grade this year. Both my girls play soccer so our days this fall will be full of
practices and games. This will be my second year as Meghan's Girl Scout leader, so if you want (need) Girl Scout cookies,
I've got you covered!
I'm looking forward to a great year at GFHS and I am excited to get to know more about YOU these upcoming weeks!
